This great CD set issued on Verve Records provides a unique portrait of one of the most influential blues artists shortly before his death in 1957. Playing solo in a studio, Big Bill once more showcases his enormous skills as a guitar player. The songs, including classics such as "Key to the Highway," "Going' to Kansas City, " "Glory of Love," or "Backwater Blues" are interspersed with intimate dialogues between Broonzy and Bill Randle, the guy who made these recordings and wrote some very insightful liner notes as well.
